ACS Testing Ltd are pleased to announce it has been appointed by Mackley Construction as the testing Laboratory for the Medmerry , Chichester flood alleviation scheme . We are due to begin works in February 2012 with a fully equipped on site materials testing Laboratory . This project is a major new 7 kilometre sea defence , inland from the coast and allowing a new intertidal area to form. The scheme will greatly improve the standard of flood protection for over 300 homes, the water treatment works and the main road into Selsey. It will also create an important new wildlife habitat and open up new footpaths, cycleways and bridleways. There will also be two small car parks created.
Medmerry is one of the stretches of coastline most at risk of flooding in southern England. This scheme will also provide an improved standard of protection against flooding for infrastructure and local communities.
Site work started in September 2011, and is planned to be complete by spring 2013.
